A Maynooth councillor is hopeful of the introduction to Kildare of noise complaint technology
Fianna Fáil Cllr. Naoise Ó Cearúil has asked that Kildare County Council consider its implementation.
The council does have access to noise monitoring equipment, but it has, primarily, industrial applications.
Cllr. Ó Cearúil expects that the matter may go forward to a special committee for further debate.
"The Environment Section of Kildare County Council has access to noise monitoring equipment to monitor industrial noises where developments may be exceeding their noise levels permitted under planning permissions. The Environment Department can also request owners of industrial properties to arrange for noise readings to be taken by independent professionals and these results are forwarded to the Environment Department to ascertain if noise levels are in order."
