Two Ministers Welcome High Court Overturning Of €40K Award To Hill Walker.

Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Minister Heather Humphreys, and Minister of State for Regional Development, Michael Ring have both welcomed a High Court decision to overturn an award of €40,000 in damages for injuries sustained by a hillwalker, after a fall on the Wicklow Way.

Teresa Wall sued the National Parks and Wildlife Service, claiming she tripped and fell after her foot got stuck in a hole in an old railway sleeper on a boardwalk.

Minister Humphreys and Department officials will now take time to consider the details of today's ruling and its future implications for our National Parks and their recreational remit.
