5 More Probationer Gardai To Be Allocated To Kildare In The 2nd Half Of 2017.

: 06/19/2017 - 17:11

5 more more probationary Gardai will likely be assigned to the Kildare Division from July.

Five of the most recent class of graduates from Templemore were seconded to Leixlip Garda Station in May.

Another 5 are expected to be seconded to the Division between July and December.

The allocation to the Division of more probationer Gardai was confirmed to Kildare North Fianna Fáil TD, Frank O'Rourke during a meeting with senior Gardai.

Deputy O'Rourke says an undisclosed number of "further" garda "are expected to be transferred to the Kildare Division in the meantime between July and December."

He says "I was particularly impressed by the proposals brought forward by Chief Superintend Roche and his team in regards enhancing community policing in Kildare. I have been assured that there will be increased Garda visibility in towns such as Celbridge, Maynooth, Leixlip and Kilcock in the months ahead. People will also be given a constant point of contact within the service who will take ownership of community policing in particular areas. I'm also encouraged by the measures being taken to enhance community policing in and around Maynooth University."
